Bio:

I'm Dr. Jake Schmutz, the primary physician at Integrative Medica. We live in an exciting time of advancement in health care. Advanced understanding of the human body has revealed a marvelous capacity of the body to heal itself in many regards. This philosophy has shaped my career in medicine.

Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to study medicine. My perspective on healthcare was shaped largely by an introduction to integrative medicine while studying undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University. This lead me to seek further, wholistic and integrative medicine at Bastyr University. At Bastyr, I was trained in conventional and alternative approaches to medicine.

A Naturopathic Approach

Treating the symptoms of illness has become all too commonplace in the healthcare setting. This results in a continuous cycle of sickness. At Integrative Medica, we first identify the root cause of illness. Then, we develop a regimen of supportive therapy that allows the body to heal itself. When the cause of the illness is eliminated, the sickness is cured.

Wholistic Medicine

A portion of my specialized training has been in medical nutrition, botanical medicine, diet and lifestyle modification, hydrotherapy, and osseous and soft tissue manipulation.

In addition to my specialized education, I received the standard medical school training that all doctors are accustomed to. This included extensive training in diagnostics, minor surgery, and pharmacology.

Postdoctural Education

Postdoctoral training includes I.V. nutrient therapy, neural prolotherapy, prolotherapy, neurocranial restructuring, platelet rich plasma therapy, and visceral manipulation.

Acute & Chronic Conditions

Extensive training has prepared me to address conditions of both acute and chronic nature. Some of the common illnesses that I see are related to alternative pain management (especially for joints, knees and back pain)
autoimmune disease (including rheumatoid arthritis) irritable bowel syndrome.
